Get the House Holiday Ready: TV Mounting, Lighting and the Small Fixes Guests Notice

Every year the same thing happens. The tree goes up, family is coming in two weeks, and the new TV is still sitting in the box leaning against the wall. The holidays are the busiest time of year for mounting and install work, so the earlier you plan, the better.

TV mounting done right

A clean TV install comes down to three things. The mount has to go into studs or proper anchors rated for the weight. The height has to work from where you actually sit, not just look centered on the wall. And the cables need to be hidden, either inside the wall with a proper power and cable kit or in a clean raceway. Over the fireplace is popular here, but it often puts the screen too high, so we talk through options before drilling anything.

Lighting that changes the room

Holiday gatherings are when you notice the lighting most. Swapping dated fixtures, adding dimmers, or changing bulbs to a warmer color temperature makes a house feel finished. If you read our post on Kelvin and lighting, you know how much difference the right bulb makes. A few fixtures replaced before guests arrive goes a long way.

Shelves, mirrors and art

Floating shelves for the living room, a large mirror in the entry, or a gallery wall in the hallway. These are quick visits that make a big impression, and they are much easier to get done before your calendar fills up.

The small stuff guests notice

A loose towel bar in the guest bath. A door that sticks. A cabinet hinge that sags. A smoke detector chirping at 2 AM. None of it is a big deal on its own, but together it is the list you have been meaning to get to. One visit can clear the whole thing.

Book early

December fills up fast. If you want the TV on the wall and the house ready before family shows up, reach out now and we will get you on the calendar. Request an estimate here.
